i'm a writer and also co-founded a company dedicated to getting kids involved in community service through music. they volunteer for 4 hours and in return, get a ticket to a concert that we produce.
a few other details about me --
i love film - chaplin, godard, billy wilder or tom tykwer - just as long as it's original. same goes for theater. really, i'm interested in everything - from poetry to politics, philosophy to philanthropy, art to astrophysics. when i was little, the thought of doing only one job for the rest of my life was as impossible to imagine as the fact that i'd someday grow old. i try to maintain that sense of wonder about the world but it's tempered these days by a heavy dose of cynicism (which makes it critical to keep a sense of humor about the whole thing). i love wine. i love to cook. i know the difference between it's and its (but don't feel the need to prove it). i'm usually willing to give people a second chance. i'm a firm believer that there's no better feeling than that little frisson you get from meeting someone you just click with.
My Ideal Person:
"I've stopped answering hypothetical questions..."
ok, fine - things i appreciate in a woman: someone who's not TOO high maintenance (but i am realistic). i think that attraction is physical but it's also mental. intelligence is key (but you knew that...). i tend to prefer a dark sense of humor to the constantly cheery, but i'm always happy to try something new. intensity, passion, conviction, open-mindedness -- all good qualities to have.
in a perfect world it's not life and death for you if we're apart for a trip to the grocery store but a few days away makes you feel that little pang. most important - you've got to be able to laugh at yourself.
(oh... and at me).
The last great book I read book of salt, moveable feast, pnin, brideshead revisited, kafka on the shore, maltese falcon, see no evil (robert baer), wind-up bird chronicle, choke, the sun also rises, the amazing adventures of kavalier & clay, the diamond age, fat man in the middle seat, tale/2 cities, the lady in the lake
My most humbling moment So many options ... so little time ...
Favorite on-screen sex scene The hotel in Wonderland (Michael Winterbottom - not Val Kilmer). Fight Club. Waking The Dead. Donnie Darko.
The celebrity I resemble the most Condoleeza Rice
If I could be anywhere right now Rome, Paris, Prague, Napa, Beijing, Taipei, Chicago, Santa Fe, Fiji, Garden of the Gods, Africa... (you get the idea).
